The San Diego Museum of Art, located in Balboa Park, showcases a wide-ranging collection spanning centuries and artistic styles.
SCOPE OF WORK

Exhibition Logo Design & Branding
Title Wall & Wall Label Design
In-Gallery & Wayfinding Signage Design
Large-Scale Exterior Banner Design
Print Production
Team Collaboration
For the traveling exhibition Reflections on Monet, I designed title walls, wall labels, wall mural, wayfinding signs, and large exterior banners, collaborating closely with the curator, installation team, and printers to ensure a smooth design.
To create an immersive experience, I proposed and developed the idea of integrating an enlarged archival black-and-white photo of Monet’s garden in Giverny directly onto the dark forest green walls. To help the photo blend into the space and avoid looking like framed artwork, I added subtle green tones and refined shadows and highlights, preserving depth and realism. The result is a life-sized mural that invites visitors to step into Monet’s world before viewing his vibrant paintings.
For the traveling exhibition Modern Masters From Latin America: The Pérez Simón Collection, I developed the visual identity—including logo design, typography, and color palette—in collaboration with the curator. I designed the title wall and wall labels for the exhibition space.
Design responsibilities also included creating interior wayfinding signage, and large-scale banners displayed on the museum’s entrance façade. Close coordination with printers and installation teams ensured accurate color reproduction and a smooth production and installation process.
For the Art of Papua New Guinea exhibition, I developed the full visual identity—logo design, color palette, typography, title wall, and wayfinding signage.
With no available wall space and minimal ambient lighting, I devised a custom solution for object labels by designing frosted, semi-opaque labels applied directly to the plexiglass cases. Each was carefully placed to fall within narrow beams of directional light, blending into the space without distracting from the light-sensitive artifacts. I worked closely with the curator, printers, and installation teams to ensure visual cohesion and precision during production and install.
Art Alive is The San Diego Museum of Art’s annual signature fundraiser that pairs floral creations by local florists with works of art throughout the museum. For the coveted Art Alive Premiere Dinner, I designed custom menus to complement the elaborate tablescape and reflect the tone and visual elegance of the event for the museum’s special dinner guests.
For Views of Balboa Park exhibition, the title wall was the main design focus in a narrow exhibition space. Drawing inspiration from vintage park signage and ornamental ironwork, the visual identity and title wall design captured the historic charm of Balboa Park. Wall labels and a custom exhibition logo were also created to unify the display.
